Ornamental plants, gardening and landscape design are extremely important for urban beautification. These plants are not only used for enhancing aesthetics but are also beneficial for the environment and profitable from a business perspective. With low investment and proper management, they can yield high returns. India ranks second in the production of ornamental plants, contributing 15%, while China holds the first position in this sector.

The growth of ornamental plants includes four main stages: media preparation, branching growth, flowering, and reduction of abiotic stress. Appropriate fertilizer management is essential at each stage.

Media Preparation:

Media preparation involves incorporating the right number of fertilizers, micronutrients, and organic components into the soil or other media. While preparing the media, Nutricote Balanced (Type 180), Nutricote Balanced (Type 360), and Basacote Plus 12M control release fertilizers are used. These helps ensure the long-term availability of nutrients, increase the number of flowers and fruits and promote overall plant growth.

The application rates of these controlled-release fertilizers are as follows:

For lawns: 20 to 30 grams per square meter

For seasonal plants: 2 grams per plant

For larger plants: 30 to 100 grams per plant

Branching Growth:

Approximately ten days after media preparation, to enhance branching growth, Novatec Solub 14-48 (at 0.5 grams per liter) and Humistar WG (400 grams per 1000 liters) should be applied in water. This promotes strong root development, increases shoots and the number of flowers.

Flowering:

During the flowering stage, following branching growth, Basfoliar 0-40-37 SP should be sprayed at 2.5 grams per liter of water and AG Silon at 2 ml per liter of water. These should be used together through foliar application. This results in better flowering and helps reduce abiotic stress.

To Reduce Abiotic Stress and Keep Plants Green:

To reduce abiotic stress, Fetrilon Combi-2 at 0.5 grams per liter of water and AG Silon at 2 ml per liter of water should be sprayed together. This improves flowering and effectively reduces abiotic stress.
