A cyclonic circulation lay over north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal this (Tuesday) morning, under whose influence an anticipated low-pressure area is expected to form later in the day. This also meant an existing ‘low’ over Marathwada anchoring monsoon onset stage has to gradually yield its place to the incumbent.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said this once again will shift heavy monsoon activity to the southwest coast, including Kerala and Coastal Karnataka; North Interior and South Interior Karnataka; Rayalaseema; Telangana; Coastal Andhra Pradesh; and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, over the next 4-5 days.

Fairly widespread to hefty rainfall or isolated to scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, including thunder squalls, are forecast for these areas during this period.
