India’s tea production was up 2 percent in March 2025, mainly due to the increase in output in Assam, the largest producing State.

As per the Tea Board’s latest statistics, the all-India production during March increased to 65.14 million kgs, up from 63.78 million kgs in the same period last year.

In March 2025, Assam Valley’s output was up 33 percent to 26.66 million kg (20.10 million kg in March 2024), while in Cachar, it was down to 0.86 million kg (1.35 million kg). Total output in Assam was 27.52 m kg, up 28 percent over the corresponding previous year’s 21.45 m kg.
