Maharashtra’s raisin exports have taken a hit this year as repeated spells of unseasonal rain disrupted grape cultivation across key producing regions. The State exported just 6,309 tonnes of raisins between April and November 2025, according to official export data, reflecting the sharp impact of weather-related crop losses.

The damage has been most severe in Nashik and Sangli, Maharashtra’s principal grape- and raisin-producing districts. Farmers and processors in these regions reported delayed harvesting and deterioration in fruit quality after heavy rainfall during the monsoon, followed by intense showers in September and October, a critical period for grape maturation and drying.

Despite the lower volumes, Maharashtra continued to ship raisins to a diverse set of international markets, including Morocco, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Sri Lanka. However, exporters said erratic weather conditions reduced the availability of export-grade raisins, forcing many units to operate below capacity.
