Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah on Sunday assured that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not delay assistance to Maharashtra farmers whose crops have been destroyed by the recent heavy rains. He said the Centre stands firmly with the farming community and has asked the state government to submit a detailed report on the losses.

Addressing a public function in Pravaranagar, Ahilyanagar district, Shah said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar had briefed him on the extent of crop damage. “On behalf of Prime Minister Modi, I have assured them that the Centre will provide all necessary assistance,” Shah said.

Shah was speaking after inaugurating the renovated Padma Shree Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil Cooperative Sugar Factory and a Compressed Biogas (CBG) plant built at a cost of ₹55 crore. He also unveiled statues of Dr. Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil, the pioneer of India’s cooperative sugar movement, and former Union Minister Balasaheb Vitthalrao Vikhe Patil.
