The All India Distillers Association (AIDA), the apex body for ethanol, bio-energy and potable alcohol, has urged the government to enhance ethanol blending from 20 per cent to 30 per cent and promote its wider adoption across transport, including flex-fuel vehicles as well as domestic and industrial cooking applications.

In a representation to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, AIDA has also recommended exploring ethanol blending in diesel to contain fuel costs and further strengthen the country’s energy security amid rising global uncertainties.

“We have achieved E-20 ethanol blending target well before the time and the credit goes to vision of our Prime Minister, government policy and enterprises who brought the on ground. Now with Middle East entangled in a war and oil prices have started incresing, we as an ethanol industry are ready to offer ethanol more than 20 per cent which will reduce proportionally the import of crude” AIDA said in a letter to Gadkari.
